WHY CHOOSE OSBORNE HEAD & NECK INSTITUTE?

Osborne Head & Neck Institute (OHNI) provides experts in their field whose number one concern is your successful outcome. Dr. Osborne is fellowship trained and board certified. We feel that it is equally important to not only treat disease but maintain normal function and appearance after your surgery. You will have direct access to Dr. Osborne at all times both before and after your procedure, not residents or fellows.

WHAT IS THE BEST TREATMENT FOR EAGLE SYNDROME?

The most definitive treatment is styloidectomy. We believe the safest and most complete styloidectomy is performed via a trans-cervical approach.

WHAT IS DR. OSBORNE’S SUCCESS RATE?

Styloid surgery carries a risk of injury to major blood vessels and accidental transection of cranial nerves. Dr. Osborne has had 0% injury to these structures.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING RECOVERY?

The recovery is typically rapid and uneventful. Patients do not complain of pain and are mobile the same day of surgery, eating and drinking normally.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF THE SURGERY WAS SUCCESSFUL?

This varies from person to person. The majority of patients have noticeable improvement in their symptoms in the first 24-48 hours after surgery, however others may take 3-6 months to feel the benefits of surgery.

CAN BOTH SIDES BE OPERATED AT THE SAME TIME?

We place the patient’s best interest first and we do not believe it’s medically prudent to operate on both sides on the same day. However, it is safe to do both sides in the same week.

WILL I HAVE ANY NOTICEABLE SCARS?

The techniques utilized provide a very cosmetic result. Incisions are hidden when possible and relatively small.

CAN MY PROCEDURE BE PERFORMED ON THE WEEKEND OR EVENING?

HOW LONG WILL I NEED TO BE OFF WORK?
